  aja ioHD capture

  Hello

  I need to record a live mixed event. It will be 60 mins in duration 1080 50i out of a vision mixer.

  options are:

  Aja ioHD – into a macbook pro (2.53 core2duo, 4gb ram) – ProRes HQ

  Aja KiPro full size unit – ProRes HQ

  Nano Flash – Over two cards – 100mb HD Long-GOP

  Im worried about reliablity between these options. Can a MacBook Pro capture HD footage this long without dropping frames? Are the any issues recording over two cards with the nano flash?

  To me Aja KiPro seems a good option but very few rental companies in london seem to have them.

  Anyone insight would be appreciated

  I would vote for the KiPro with the ioHD second.

  They will both work, just make sure you have the storage if you decide the ioHD is that way to go.

  Thanks for the advice.

  Do you need fast hard disks to capture with the ioHD? Is the internal one on a mac book pro not up to the job?

  I would go with at least an external drive. Could be a single sata drive if needed, but I would stay away from the internal.
