    Hi everyone,

I am a proud fresh owner of aja iohd that I am still unpacking and beginning to setup…Ihave a question for all aja iohd users outhere…

    1. how often, in which way and how succesfully are you using aja iohd for critical color correction in studio or field…

    2. how happy are you with pro res fornat…

3, do you switch often the same unit between macpro and macbook pro usage on field and in studio…

    Thanks a bunch

    ProRes rocks.
Color correction is great with it, and it jumps between my laptop and 8 core all the time.. Couldn’t be happier.

I did have some FW drives that I put now on a new SIIG FW card so I can capture to them with the Io… but on the Laptop, I’m constrained to using eSATA… Not buying any more FW drives anyway… all eSATA for me from now on.

    Hi Jerry,
I just bought the ioHD. I will be CC HD footage (EX-1) but at the moment I have to monitor in SD (3.000U$$ the HD Input card), any problem?

    Mac OX 10.5.2-FC 6.02-QT 7.4.1

    PMBP 17″Core2Duo 4GbRAM-AJA ioHD
    JVC DTV-17″
    SONY EX-1 . SONY PD170
..and always a big mess on top of the table.

Color of the HD shouldn’t shift by downconverting it to SD, but of course you’ll not see the resolution you’re actually working with, so it’s not the best, but it should be the same color wise. It’s just that bringing out detail that you really can’t monitor would be a bit tricky.

the IoHD can only monitor files from Apple’s Colorin SD currently.

Is this a hardware or software issue?

I mean, if HD preview with ioHD can’t be enabled then Kona is a better solution for us. A word from Aja would be welcome, but their support lately is less than optimal.

I noticed another similar limitation of ioHD compared to Kona. With Kona, I can display full HD video while doing audio post with Nuendo, but with ioHD there is no picture. It might have to do with fw800 connection perhaps.
