August 1, 2007 at 6:44 amI have the AJA Io connected to FCP 5.1.4 with firewire. On FCP startup, External A/V window pops up with the “Unable to locate device…” message. In the A/V Setup window in video and audio playback it is listed as missing. Io settings are same as I always use. Rebooting the Io Deleting FCP preferences, uninstaling and reinstaling drivers all tried with no results. Any suggestions?

Can you test the Firewire port on your computer with a deck or camera? Likewise the Firewire cable you’re using.

You’ve tested them SINCE you started having this problem?
Have you used the IO successfully since your OS upgrade?
You might want to give AJA support a call, They are very helpful, and very good.

August 1, 2007 at 9:09 pmdownload the Pro I/O Control Panel, and test your I/O with this, instead of FCP. All from the http://www.aja.com website support page.

August 2, 2007 at 7:49 amSpoke to AJA tech support last night the solution is that I have a Graid hard drive connected to my Mac with Firewire as well as the AJA. Because both FW ports use the same bus, The Graid has to be disconnected before running the AJA.
