I have recently started using an AJA IO with great results. I can digitise long video clips with audio via component into the DVCPRO 50 codec with no problems. However when digitising audio only using the FCP capture tool with machine control and video turned off (when recording scratch commentary for example), I frequently get a stopped digitising message, often after only 30 seconds or so, and I loose what audio I have recorded – I also experience some drop out in the audio that is captured successfully. I have the same problem when capturing to the DV-25 codec. Recording audio this way without the AJA interface causes no problems.

Anyone have any ideas why I can capture video with audio successfully, but not audio alone?

    Thanks,

    Ken.

Seems like I remember you must still have a video signal being fed into your Io. (Even if you are only capturing audio.) Try that.

Thanks – sending a video signal to the composite input helped – have to fork out for a B&B unit I guess.

    Ken.
