    Greetings!

I’ve got a IoLD connected to a DSR-1500 via SDI. I’ve been using this combo for a few years to capture from tape – quite successfully – in both DV and 8-bit Uncompressed codecs.

I’ve now got a client who needs me to lay some work I did for him back to DVCAM tape. I was able to Black and Code a tape w/o a problem. Now I’m stuck actually trying to write the tape. No matter what I do or how I set things up, I keep getting an error message from FCP (FCP 5.0.4 BTW) that says I’m using incompatible compression settings and that the clip’s compression doesn’t match the current output settings.

    Here’s what I’m doing:

Import a test clip using an Uncompressed 8-bit codec.
Sequence as Uncompressed 8-bit NTSC 48 KHz (CCIR 601).
Capture/Input setting is Aja Io LD: SDI 8-bit NTSC 48 KHz.

It seems to me this should work fine. But I’m still getting the evil error message from FCP. I’m thinking the problem lies elsewhere – some other configuration setting – but I’m stumped as to where that might be.

NOTE: I’ve already trashed and rebuilt prefs.

Other tech details: OSX 10.4.8 on Dual G5 with 2.5 GB of RAM, FCP 5.0.4, all Aja drivers up to date. QT version is 7.0.3.

    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

OPen the ETT window and drag the sequence from the browser onto the assemble or insert overlay. Make sure you have set a tc number that matches your tape in the in point field.
