  • 1080i to SD IO sequence – help

Posted by Jeff Gural on November 23, 2005 at 7:54 pm

I have a program that was edited in 1080i in the DVCPro HD codec. We want to master it to beta, but I get all sorts of interlace issues when I render it out. Any ideas?

    Thanks,

I have no idea of what your equipment is, or what you did. You are on the I/O forum, yet I ASSUME that you own a Kona 2, digitized in 1080i with the DVCPro Codec. If you own the Kona 2, your K-Box has a Y Pb Pr output that you can use to downconvert the 1080i sequence to YRB and send this out to your Beta VTR.

If you don’t own the Kona 2, and have a 1080i DVCPro sequence with HD material, the I/O alone will NOT downconvert for you.

Yes, I should have been more clear. I have an IO and had film transferred to DVCPro HD on a harddrive. I did finally figure out some settings that worked using compressor and it looks pretty good!

    thanks

[jeff] “I did finally figure out some settings that worked using compressor and it looks pretty good!”

Why Compressor? You should be able to cut in an HD timeline (turn Io view off) and then drop the sequence into an SD sequence. Turn Io back on, tweak CC, render and output to tape. All in FCP.

    Sincerely,
    Oliver
