Dropped frames then hanging in FCP w/ IoLD
Greetings!
I’m having a problem with my IoLD and Final Cut 4.5 under OSX 10.3.8. I’m capturing 8-bit Uncompressed clips to a four spindle SCSI RAID (under OSX) controlled by an ATTO UL3D card. FCP is set to abort on dropped frames and the captures are all successful. I can play the clips back from Quicktime w/o any problems. [Platform is a 933 Mhz G4 “Quicksilver” with 1.5 GB RAM]
However, when I play the clips back from an 8-bit Uncompressed sequence in FCP things work fine for a while but eventually the IoLD drops a frame or two which then causes the A/V sync to be lost on the desktop mirror and then FCP hangs and I get a terminal beachball.
Note that when mirroring is OFF the problem seems to take longer to occur – i.e. frames are dropped here and there for a while but ultimately FCP hangs.
I am running the most recent Io firmware and drivers (but the control panel is not installed). I have already trashed my FCP preferences once. Journalling is not enabled on the RAID. Not sure what my next best debugging steps might be. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
One other thing to note: I also run Protools on this machine using an MBox for I/O. I have the MBox unplugged from the USB port and it is not selected for audio in FCP.
Thanks in advance….
