I have a very elementary question: Is there a quality difference between the I/O and Kona 2? What would make me prefer one over the other? I am in the process of purchasing FCP Studio and want to choose the best AJA product for my needs. All my work originates on Digital Beta or Beta SP. Finished edited pieces will all be laid back to Digital Beta. The I/O is attractive in that being an external box it is not necessarily tied to Apple architecture changes.

    Thanks for any insight.

buy the I/O and save yourself the aggrivation and additional expense.
When you are ready to do HD, get the Kona 2, and you will have a complete solution. I have never met anyone that said “damn, I wish I never bought that AJA IO box”.

    Hi Bob,
That’s just what I am going to do. Besides, I need the versatility of the inputs the I/O offers.
I’m glad to be a part of generating buzz and enthusiasm for FCP and AJA in Europe.
    Ciao!

[Bob Zelin] “I have never met anyone that said “damn, I wish I never bought that AJA IO box”. “

    True enough Bob.

Now if the Kona 2 only had the component YUV and S-video inputs… then the we could use it instead of the Io…
