Avid guy jumping into the FCP Pool…
New to FCP and looking at the AJA Io or Io La (suddenly trying to get the Kinks tune out of my head!)
I have read the COW posts with great interest and growing confidence that FCP with Io will be up to the quality and performance standards I have come to expect from the purple guys. However, I am stepping into the pool slowly.
I am looking to pick up an Io on the used market and am curious if AJA will honor any warranty (if any is left) as the new owner. Likewise, do they require a product license transfer and is there any fee associated with that?
In other words, what do I risk by going the used route in order to save a few bucks and will I be inelligible for support as a second hand owner?

BTW… I bought THE book (Weynand) and it arrived the other day. Have not had a chance to get started but am waiting with baited breath (even though crawfish season has pretty much passed down here in Texas!)

I would check with Aja support support@aja.com
One thing to consider as you jump into FCP is there is no resolution mixing within a project. Any media not captured at the project settings has to be rendered. That said as an Avid and Media 100 editor I find FCP quite professional and the Aja box is of excellent quality.

Considering there ain’t no movin’ parts in an IO/et al, and they don’t operate at high temps, I’d say they’d be a great buy 2ndhand. Not selling MINE, of course… go git yer own!
