With the help of the new Io control panel, I’m now using my Kona2 for all my work. BetaSP, D9, Digibeta, HDCam, and analog monitoring – all accessable – all the time!

Thanks AJA, everything is working as advertised!

How did you do this? I tried this and all I get is a blue screen. Any advice?

    Hi Greg –
download the firmware update for your AJA I/O, then the new AJA I/O control panel, and then the new Kona 2 control panel. Everything will work just fine. If it does not, I will come over to you.

    Hmmm!!!

    Rik,
the ability for the I/O to act as a standalone converter, or do upconverts thru the Kona 2 did not exist until NAB2005, so you could have been updating daily before NAB, and it would not have given you these features.

I guess I must have been refering to the ability to use the Io to “feed” my Kona 2 uncompressed 601 or SD material via Io SDI and AES out, while the Io is being fed by any analogue or Digital source, into my FCP timeline and simultaneous external monitoring, also the reverse -Kona 2 to Io (obviously)using the Kona 2 control panel set accoringly.

This would then have had the Io in EE mode -of couse without the control panel functions.

I did not perform up/down conversions -just straight uncompressed 8/10 bit SD, with complete monitoring of the material.

Any cross conversion would of course have to take place by the settings of the primary and secondary format controls for the Kona 2s frame buffer in the Kona 2 control panel.

Heck, I could and have sent my desktop out to the Io and see it on my monitor!

But, Bob, are we talking semantics of function -the word “feeds” verses EE?

I have always enjoyed your posts as you have saved me many retorts in frustration.

    Thanks
