Trouble with the Aja 3g box.
So, we’ve just bought a large samsung T.V. for client viewing. The T.V. can’t recognize the hdmi from our aja 3g breakout box. Any suggestions on how we need to configure the hdmi output? Or are we even looking in the right area?
Can any one help?

You might want to review what type of video format/frame rate you are outputting from the KONA 3G via HDMI and compare that to what the Samsung TV supports. Keep in mind that your HDMI monitor is unlikely to support PsF formats (you will likely need to send the monitor true progressive). Additionally, some consumer monitors simply do not support certain frame rates, such as 1080p 23.98, when compared to more professional monitors.

open the AJA Control Panel. The top menu selection is CONTROL. Make sure that TEST PATTERN and bars are selected. Now select the FORMAT tab. Change the display to various selections – like 525, 720, 1080, and 29.97, or 59.94 (and even the dreaded 23.98). Do any of these give you a picture ?
And bypass the breakout box – use the short mini HDMI to HDMI cable they gave you, and go from HDMI out on the card directly into the TV.
You have to make things as simple as possible to determine your problems. If you say “that short cable they gave me does not reach the TV” – then pick up the damn MAC Pro, and stick it right next to the TV, to make sure it’s not your cable, or the Breakout box.Bob Zelin
