Kona LHe not playing nice with AE CS5
I just got around to upgrading to Adobe CS5 and now when I switch from AE to FCP I get the message “Unable to open the specified Video Output device. It may be in use by another application, incorrectly connected or conflicting with a sound input device.” As long as AE is open I can’t get video from FCP. With AE CS3 I could switch back and forth all day long.
System:
Mac Pro w/OSX 10.6.7

Just tag the Finder in between your application switch to release the card.

It’s really easy to see what has control of the Kona, just watch the control panel. From AE, go to finder, wait to release, from there to Fcp. Option tab is the way i do it.
But, I dont have the adobe utilities installed as the default kona AE video output works very well for me.

Yeah, I started out without the Adobe Utilities as well, but all I got was green noise from AE CS5, so I thought; “Maybe the Adobe Plugins are required now.” Apparently not the case. Never had an issue with AE CS3.

I uninstalled the AJA Adobe plug-ins, then re-installed them without the After Effects plug-in. Everything seems OK now.
