  External Monitoring Setup

  I am in the process of updating my external reference and client monitors. I am currently using two PVM 14-L5 (one for reference, and one for client) and the Blackmagic HDlink connected to a 23″ Apple Cinema Display, all connected to Kona LHe. I was planning on getting the FSI 1770W as the reference monitor and a Panasonic TH-42PH20U Plasma as the Client monitor. I wanted to know if I can still use the HDlink and connect it to the Plasma through either the DVI input or HDMI input or is it better to use the component input. I don’t have the budget for a HD-SDI input card for the Plasma right now. Thanks for any help.

  use the component input – save money, it looks teriffic. And the FSI is amazing. Sell your Blackmagic

  Bob,

  I know the FS1 is great bang for the buck but how does it stack up against the Panasonics.

  In my opinion –

  CineTal is #1 (and most expensive)
  FSI is # 2
  TV Logic is # 3
  JVC Verite is # 4
  Panasonic is #5
  Sony is # 9 or 11, or 20 or 40

  There are lots of other monitors on the market, from new brands that I see advertised in the trade magazines, but I don’t know what they look like.

  Ikegami makes a FANTASTIC LCD broadcast monitor that is every bit as good as the JVC, but it is not popular. Plura I think is another brand that is advertising like crazy, but I don’t know the monitor.
