  • Make ‘Shrinking Empire Map’ in AE ??

We need to make a shrinking Roman Empire for a school presentation.

The type you see on movies where the map doesn’t move, but the colored area (representing the extent of the empire) slowly recedes. . .

Could anyone direct us to a tutorial that may be of help?

    Most appreciated,

If I understand what you are trying to do, I would simply layer the map and color correct the top layer. I would then animate a mask revealing more or less of the color corrected layer.

There’s a tutorial (AE 5.5, but still works in later versions) on the sort of “nested map animation” dave is referring to here:

Should help to get you started
