I have some quicktimes in Apple Pro Res (HQ) 1920×1080 at 25 fps that I can’t get to play out to my monitors through my Kona 3 card in a native timeline. If I try putting them on a 23.98 timeline, they will play out, but i get a stutter. and converting them through compressor to 24 fps gives me the same result. I’ve tried changing both output settings in the Kona control panel and final cut, but still no luck.

Are you using FCP? If so, there should be an AJA Easy Setup for 25fps ProRes HQ. More info about your system, software and workflow might help.

    Yes, I’m running FCP studio 2 on a G5 (2 2.93GHz Quad-Core, 16 GB RAM OSX 10.6.2) and have a KONA 3 installed (sorry I didn’t post this earlier).

I have SDI from the Kona going to an HDMI converter into a hp color monitor, and the breakout cable component Y Pb Pr running to a plasma HD tv.

I tried your advice and created an entirely new project, with those settings and that seemed to work better. I got video to the hp monitor, but not to the plasma. I’ve been running 23.98 HD footage to both monitors successfully so far (this is an entire system upgrade about 3 weeks in).

Basically, we are cutting a spot and want to wow the client with our HD footage, although, eventually the spot will be SD.

Is the Analog Out tab in the AJA Control Panel set to Component?

Why are you bouncing between all of these settings, it is a very bad idea.

Chances are you are not clearing the output cache you have to make sure that you are working in one or the other it is not wise to mix 23.98 and 25fps footage together.
