Not sure if this is possible, but how about writing an app that can take advantage of the processing power of the chipset in a LHi or K3 so we could take say, an anamorphic SD clip and run it thru the app stretching it out and cropping the sides to create a center cut SD out of it.
Or taking a 720 or 1080 clip and run it thru the app and downconvert to SD letterbox.
This would be nifty. Perhaps the chipset on the board can only read from an SD or HD stream, but if you could get around that and feed it a QT movie how much more amazing would it be?
Since FCP is so awful at scaling, and because sometimes we need to scale/convert and just need a simple uncluttered utility to get it done, utilizing the amazing processing power of the card already in our system…too cool.
I know weh have compressor etc, but sometimes a simple tool to do something very straightforward is a great option too.
