AJA KONA3 issues with “Quartz Extreme”
I think this issue is related to the Kona3 card, so I am posting this question in this forum.
I am running an Intel Power Mac G5 w/an ATI Radeon HD 2600 and a KONA3 card (w/ FCP studio 2). I have a Sony HDR-SR11 & an HRD-SR10 Camcorders with video on their hardrives. I have yet to find any program on the Mac that can successfully remove this video as a Quicktime file of my choosing, accept for iMovie (oddly enough). However, when I try to open iMovie it gives me an error that I do not have a “Quartz Extreme” compatible GFX card and therefore can’t open it. It seems that the ATI HD2600 is compatible… so that leaves the KONA3. There are similar problems with the BlackMagic Decklink and a workaround for those cards has been found. Apparently it has to do with displays settings of some kind, but I don’t have experience with the Decklink and the workaround is Greek to me. If there is a similar fix for the KONA3, I do not know how to implement it and need some more precise instructions… in fact, the problem may not even be related to the KONA3. But from what I have been able to find online, I figure that my extra video card is a good place to start my troubleshooting.
Has anyone encountered this problem or is aware of any workaround?
Thanks folks.
