Hmm. First time trying this. Trying to output a 720p timeline to the Digibeta doing a downconvert to SD letterboxed in the Kona LH (from FCP).

All the software is freshly updated.

Everything looks good (had to adjust the timing to get the letterbox to sit in the middle of the screen) but whenever there is fast movement in a shot everything moving goes big lines (on the sd monitor) as if the field order is wrong or something. It’s pretty ugly.

Anyone know what I am doing wrong?

Ensure FCP is still set up for 720p HD.

Ensure the Kona Control Panel is set up for the 720p as the Primary Format and SD as the Secondary Format.

Ensure the output you’re using is set to the Secondary format.

Also check your ref to the Kona and the dBeta. if the Kona is on free run set the dbeta to input video (out ref). You should not have to set the timing

Thanks Walter. I do have FCP set to the usual 720p.

I can’t remember if I was using NTSC as the primary or secondary. I’ll check later on. Do you know why that makes a a difference?

On another note, I couldn’t make it work without feeding NTSC sync to the AJA card. If feeding HD sync then the DIGIBETA reports not getting sync.
