wow very odd. and I will be contacting Aja shortly about this…

so I was running 5.01 for the longest time as no other version
    worked without several problems.

the composite capturing picture quality was really bad though completely useless.
and though I rarely ever capture vhs, D2 or 3/4 sometimes its a necessary evil.
    something was clearly wrong.

so today I go to update to 6.02 to see if it fixes it.

now it won’t capture anything without a terrible audio drift and popping audio
and it’s in the quicktime I captured as well as playback from final cut.

I also notice when the deck is on standby and the log & capture window is open
there is bright pink color on my crt and apple monitor. with 5.01 is was proper black.

    so I downgrade/uninstall to 6.01

same pink color on standby as 6.02, synch is out of wack AND now when I playback or capture from log
and capture window, the picture on my broadcast monitor has the component colors
out of order (blue people) yet the capture window looks just fine. and on playback
it looks fine, though out of synch and popping.

now I’m heading back to 5.01 and praying it will work the way it did before.
maybe I just won’t capture composite in my 2nd edit bay.

    wtf?!?!?

    Chris

on the cards you have to run the firmware updater separately, it is found in the Applications > AJA Utilities folder.

    That should fix the issue.

oh man…I was wondering about that.

I found it odd that all these updates didn’t ask
    for firmware like other cards.

    doh!

    thanks Gary.

apparently only the Kona3 has firmware updates.

the firmware updates I did before were on black magics multibridge,
    a similar device. (external)

found the solution. it seems that driver 5.1 is the last
driver to work perfectly with mac G5 hardware.

set the input for SMPTE not Beta (that was causing the problems of out of synch and popping on hd analog capture)
