  Basic Kona 3 connections

  I need to connect a Digi-Beta deck to a Kona 3 card in a G5 / FCP HD system. Is there a diagram available? Any basic steps or tips?

  You connect SDI In to the DigiBeta SDI Out.

  RS-422 to the DigiBeta Control.

  two cables. One BNC cable from the Digi Beta SDI out to the Kona 3 HD IN 1. cable # 2 is RS422 VTR control cable into the REMOTE IN on the Digi Beta. You should also get a black generator and hookup black to both the Dig Beta Ref Video IN, and Kona 3 REFERENCE IN.

  That’s the easy part. Now you have to READ THE PDF MANUAL for the Kona 3, on how to use the AJA CONTROL PANEL. You will be using the Control Tab, Format Tab, Input Tab, Digital Output Tab, and probably the Analog Output tab. If you say “nah, I will just launch FCP, and see what happens”, you will fail.
