    Hello:

I’m doing some charity work for a British TV show and would like some advice. Along with a title sequence for this event, the client requested I make them some “Sting IDs.” What exactly is a Sting ID? Also, this is my first time working with PAL and my 720 x 576 composition brings in object squished. The aspect ratio is 16:9 and objects only look normal on import when it’s locked at 5:4. Their fine after I stretch ’em by 50 on the X axis but I’m unsure what this could do to the image when it goes to broadcast. Can anyone reccomend some sure-fire settings for PAL?

Any advice you guys could offer would be most appreciated.

    Thanks.

    Hi,

Whenever ive made a sting they are usually a 2-4 second long logo transition, they are usually used to get from one bit of VT to another. I usually use bits of my title sequence as the basis for the sting.

Pal standards : I always work in square pixel comps in after effects and then stretch the final output to an 720×576 D1/DV pixel aspect ratio which i then bring into Final Cut or Avid for output to video.

If you are creating a 16:9 format video use 1024×576 square pixel comp in after effects, if your working 4:3 format create a 768×576 square pixel comp.

    Hope this helps
