  • KONA LH Codec for 720/24P

Posted by Mike Maloney on July 28, 2008 at 10:52 am

I recently installed the KONA LH. I decided to shoot in on my JVC GY-HD110 some HD-HDV24 frame material and simply find an appropriate codec to capture in FCP. I thought, in the operations manual for the KONA there was a codec for the 720/24, but apparently not so. After trying a plethora of codecs, I couldn’t hit one that would work. In order to get the work accomplished, I had to analog out of the JVC and pull back into DVCAM. The footage still looks fantastic, but it’s certainly not what I had intended.

What’s the correct, or is there, procedure for capturing 720/24 with the KONA LH?

    All the best,

    Mike Maloney

the 720/24P easy setup should do it.

but you MUST capture via firewire that way with the HDV codec.

if you want other codecs (dvcpro-hd, uncompressed, pro-res) then
you need to hookup the component outputs to the kona component inputs and use the 720/59.94 easy setup.

    it’s really that simple.

Thanks, Chris. This worked…worked quite well. Sometimes the PDF manuals get fuzzy.
