  HDW-D1800 Edit to Tape….

  I have a Kona 3 card, and I’m using the Kona3 29.97 Sony VTR B settings for my deck control. I can roll off to tape fine, but I need to send time code also. Does anyone know what the settings should be on the Sony HDCAM HDW-D1800 deck? When I try to lay off timecode it starts the record on the deck and it starts recording black, but the timecode is starting at some random number.

  I’m assuming that the Kona 3 is sending the timecode. I think its my deck settings.

  FCP does not send timecode via HDSDI. You have to pre-stripe the beginning of your tape (or use black and code from FCP) and then assemble on from the appropriate tc in point and deck control via RS422.
