We’re looking into upgrading our main editing suite and I’m curious on what the main difference would be for us chosing a Kona 3 vs a Kona LHe.

I’d say 80% of our work is SD but more and more HD-projects are coming in. We shoot on everything from DV, IMX, HDCAM to 35 mm film scanned to HDCAM SR. Variety is the key one could say, but as it stands 80% of our works i SD and output to Digibeta.

Can anyone sum up the benefits or down-sides as they stand today?

Note we work 99% in PAL-land so features that for what ever reason don’t work here are interesting to hear about too. We primarily work in FCP, AE and Shake for the video-work.

For many who don’t need all of the great video benefits of the Kona 3, the analog audio I/O of the LHe is a strong selling point.
