prepare to start crying (I/O HD)
Posted by Bob Zelin on May 21, 2007 at 10:08 pmI can barely type this, wiping the tears away from my eyes. The street price of the AJA I/O HD will be $2358 ! A free beating to the first person that says “how come they are charging so much money for the I/O HD ?”.

I own an AJA Kona SD , which I paid $2999 for. I think that it is very unfair that the new HD product is being priced at a similar price. Can I trade in my Kona SD card for the I/O HD ? I think that I should only have to pay the difference in price (of about $300). Also, can you please tell me how to install the I/O HD on my Macintosh 9600 ? I don’t see a firewire 800 port on this computer. If it can’t work, can I trade this computer in for a MAC Pro. I paid about $5000 for the MAC 9600, and the MAC Pro is less money, so can Apple give me a refund ? Also, how do I get my Beta VTR to play back these HDCam tapes ? Does Radio Shack sell an HD to RF adaptor, and if they do, does it still tune in the HD signal on Channel 3 ?
In response to a post above this subject on this forum, if I put RCA to BNC adaptors on my Radio Shack RCA audio cables, can these be used for HD Video ? If the answer is no to all of these questions, if I spend the money for the I/O HD, will AJA send me a free box of chocolates ?Bob Zelin

May 22, 2007 at 1:22 pmWith all due respect. . .
Is there a reason you’re still using a 9600? I traded in my 8600 about – guessing – 8 years ago. I can’t imagine a world where a machine of that antiquity is still useful. Perhaps I am being short-sighted.

May 22, 2007 at 2:58 pmIn a related issue, FCP is reporting dropped frames when I try to play back uncompressed HD from my USB floppy disc.
The coffee I spilled on the disk shouldn’t be the problem, because it was a mocha latte. The mocha provides the disk with a surge of extra speed.
I trashed the latte, but still have the problem. Must be living near Seattle.
