Up res HDV
Posted by Sean Davison on March 20, 2007 at 11:11 amIm trying to Digitise some HDV footage and up res it to DVC Pro HD through the component inputs on the Breakout Box
Ive got the HDV deck set to output Component and the right leads plugged in to the inputs on the box. Ive set the Kona control panel to input analog video (component Beta SP) and created a new capture setting using the 625 setting as my input and DVC ProHD as the conmpressor
Cant get it to work!!!
Any clues?

What? Where does BetaSP and 625 come in?
What is your HDV footage? 1080i/50 or /60?
Set to the AJA Kona DVCPro HD 1080i/50 or 60 and then change the Device Control to Firewire NTSC to control the deck.

March 20, 2007 at 2:32 pmYou should choose the proper DVCPRO HD easy setup and the Kona will upconvert the DV footage for you.

March 20, 2007 at 2:33 pmI should add that as long as the frame rates are compatible.

March 20, 2007 at 3:17 pmThere are instructions for this in the manual, but set your Primary to match the DV deck and the Secondary to match whatever your HD upconvert is to be in the Kona control panel.
Then switch back to FCP and the control panel should now show the SD signal being upconverted.

Correct me if I’m off base here guys, but since Sean says he’s trying to get footage into the computer via component analog, that would point to a Kona LH/LHe board. That board does not upconvert, does it?

D’OH! You’re absolutely correct. The LH / LHe models DOWNconvert only, no upconvert. I need more coffee!
