KONA3 synch requirements
i’m looking to purchase an HD PCI card. can someone tell me whether the KONA3 card requires tri-level synch to work in HD, or will it, like most HD kit, work fine with bi-level synch?

you can use standard NTSC black, or tri level sync. If you are operating at 29.97 or 59.94, a cheapo black gen will work just fine. If you are cutting at 23.98, and outputing to a VTR at 23.98, you should have a tri level sync gen. Most people that shoot at 23.98 allow the VTR to do the 2:3 pulldown to 59.94, and just edit normally – in this case, you would still use a cheapo NTSC black gen.
