Is anyone aware of any issues using the Kona 2 on the new Mac Pros. The Kona 2 and 3 are both PCIx but are there Kona 2 drivers updated for the Mac Pros architecture?

I am setting up a small studio and am upgrading the 2 Mac FCP workstations but not planning on buying 2 more Konas yet.

[Rutanicus] ” The Kona 2 and 3 are both PCIx”

Nope. Kona 3 is PCIe, Kona 2 is PCIx. For a MacPro you need the Kona 3 as the MacPros have PCIe. There are drivers for the Mac Pros, yes.

Absolutely correct. Can’t put the Kona 2 into any PCIe machine and this includes the PowerMac G5 Quad.

If you need analog input plus HD the Kona LHe is also an option.

Or the AJA HD10AVA converter. We just installed one here to convert the Analog Component and Analog Audio out of our HDV deck to HD-SDI with embedded audio. Works flawlessly.

I also own the Kona 2 and just purchased a new Mac Pro without any PCI slots.

Is something like this an option?

Please learn the proper terminology. The Mac Pro DOES have PCI slots. They are called PCIe. Power PC’s have PCI-X slots.

Number 1 – that Card is for Windows only. Reading the specs I found that in a few seconds.

Number 2 – You would not want to run any Video Card via an adapter.
