Has anybody gotten the VTR Exchange program to use the firewire port?

I selected it in the preferences as my machine control but it still doesn’t work. I would use the serial port but I have to reboot my computer at least three times after I have my PDW-F70 (or PDW-1500 or BVU-1800) powered on in order to get the serial port to initialize. It’s quite the pain to do but I have no choice on my 1800 deck but the XDCAM decks I use firewire for control. But this is a whole other issue that I have been trying to solve with AJA for the past year without resolve.

Your machine control doesn’t work? Swap the card out, man. AJA will do this on the quickstep.

Not sure if VTR Exchange is set up to handle firewire control.

Well, I’m in the process of trying to work with AJA on this problem and as usual, they don’t want to just ship another card until they waste about seven days of my time when they finally realize that the card has a problem.

As for the firewire and VTR Exchange… I found out from AJA that the firewire support that they mean is for the AJA Io series of boxes, not machine control. Its very misleading the way it is listed in the Preferences. Kinda sucks, too….

Curb your frustration and ask nicely.
