August 7, 2006 at 7:31 pmAccording to the Apple site, it will take approx. 5 – 8 weeks to get one if I upgrade to the Dual 3.0 which is what we’re considering along with the ATI 1900 graphics card.

August 7, 2006 at 7:51 pmI’m staying away from nVidia for the moment because i heard nothing but problems with the units created for the Quads. We’re going to run Final Touch HD on the machine and I’m glad to see ATI back with a PCIe card.

August 7, 2006 at 10:23 pmHi Wally,
5 – 8 weeks to get one with an ATI X1900 or 5 – 8 weeks just to get anything at all ? I heard there would be a longer delay on orders for one with an X1900.
Bart
P.S. I’ve had good results with GeForce 7800’s on Quads.

August 7, 2006 at 11:23 pmthe 7300 (the stock card) is VERY underpowered (close to the 6600)
the 7800 is close to the 1900I would go with the 1900 as the lowest card

“I’ve heard nothing but” Oh come on Walter! you should know better!
I’ve had problems with my ATI and zero problems with Nvidia, but hey, caveat emptor.Re ATI. You are going to be pretty racked off when everybody else is running SLI.
Remember the three key things to FCP & Motion are GPU power, GPU Power, GPU power.Peter

The big question… do/will the new Mac’s support SLI ? I think it would be a tremendous oversight if they didn’t.

That’s the most important app in our facility next to FCP and After Effects right now. The color correction this thing is bringing to our workflow is just incredible and quite honestly it’s responsible for more broadcast work coming to our door.

ATI card has been perfect for me. I’ve heard of driver issues on the Quad with the high end nVidia cards. That’s why we’re just running the stock nVidia card on it until the ATI cards are available and our new Mac Pro will have the ATI card installed.
