Just received my Kona 3, K3 box and Quad. Have an Io that I will use for the front end of analog in to SDI out to the Kona to uprez into 720p/24 project. Do I just use the Io as a TBC/converter with the control panel or control with FCP. Logic tells me that FCP tell Kona what it wants and Io is just as I explained but you guys are way ahead of me so I have learned to ask the Buddah’s first!!

Yes, use the io as a converter with the control panel, not FCP. To uprez to a 24p project is going to take some doing. You will need to first digitize at 720p60 and then convert that to 720p24, otherwise when you try and uprez straight to 720p24 your NTSC footage will come in slow motion. i use compressor to do this (advanced format conversion). I have not found a better way to do this, if anyone knows, please tell me. I just recently did a DVCPRO HD 720p24 job where I had to bring in some Beta footage. The only workflow I could get to work is the one I just mentioned. Also, if your footage is not already anamorphic or framed for a letterbox, you will have some aspect ratio and screen size issues.
