    Hello,

I’ve just onlined a programme that was shot on HDV and offlined at DVPAL resolution. I went through the media manager process which created a folder of offline clips to be redigitised using the HDV codec. Obviously as DVPAL the clips were lower field first, the new clips in the bin to be redigitised all stated that they were upper field first (I’m in the UK) as you would expect going from DV to HDV. However, after I had done the online (which took forever, many clips had to be manually recaptured due to lack of preroll, but that’s another post) I checked the item properties of some clips in the timeline and they all said lower field first despite the fact that in the browser it clearly stated the opposite. The timeline was upper field first and the edit looked fine on the monitor and no rendering was needed, so is this just a bug in FCP 5.0.4? I am using a Kona 2 card BTW. I’ve also just onlined a programme from offline DVPAL to 8bit Uncompressed and that had the same issue, but if I changed the timeline from upper to lower field no rendering was needed and both looked fine. Is the Kona doing something behind the scenes-I’m confused?

    Thanks in advance.
