  • Kona Card stops working…

Posted by Mike Johnson on May 16, 2006 at 9:58 pm

I installed the KONA LHe into my Quad last week.
I installed the latest drivers from aja.com

My system is running all the latest software, OSX 10.4.6 / FCP 5.1
I have the breakoutbox connected to the card and the SDI from my deck to the breakoutbox.
I have monitor and sound out from the breakoutbox.

I’ve set everything up and it ran fine. So far I captured around 20 hours of footage.

I’ve used it every day, but 3 mornings when I started up my system and launched FCP and wanted to capture the card didn’t work.
The AJA KONA controll panel didn’t see the card. No footage came in thru log and capture.
The input select of my deck had the SDI lights flashing, it only does that when there is no connection.
There was no picture on my monitor, usually there are colorbars when I start everything up.

So I power my system down. I disconnected the DVI cable between the box and the card, waited a few seconds, plugged it back in and rebooted.

Now my system worked. This is very annoying, does anyone have a solution for this?
Or anyone had the same problem?

    Have I got faulty equipment?

Hey Mike, AJA will take good care of you, but what you should do is bypass your Kbox and use the cables that were supplied with the card. Sounds like your Kbox might be faulty. In the meantime, use the snake of cables and try and narrow down the problem. If the problem persists, then it might be the card, if the problem stops then it might be the kbox.

    Good luck and have fun.

    Jeremy
