  • Duplicated frames when capturing

    Hi,
I’m capturing DVCPRO-HD material with AJA KONA LHe. I need to change 720p23.98 as it’s filmed. The problem is that the material shows like double field or something. I see 2 frames when the time-code runs only 1.
    I’m not sure if I was clear…
    HELP!

Just readed my own post. I think it’s impossible to understand. Sorry!!!

    Here is a better explanation:

I’m capturing DVCPRO-HD footage with an AJA KONA LHe.
The footage has been filmed with a Panasonic Varicam in 720p-23.98fps.
I’m using the AJA KONA LH 720p DVCPRO Varicam easy setup in FCP 5.0.4.
The captured footage is not in 23.98fps but in 59.94fps, so every frame is duplicated.
Don’t know how to solve this.
    Please help!
    Thanks in advance

    Start here.

are you using Capture NOW (please say no)
are you capturing footage with bars and tone?
    is there any speed ramping?

Have you tried the FRC plug in in final cut from the Panasonic Web site (on the 1200a support page)

Using Capture Now and Batch Capture with the same problem.
    Not capturing bars and tone.
    Not any speed ramping.
The weird thing is that PREVIOUSLY they captured some footage under the same circumstances, same camera, same deck, same card, with no problem. If I look at the format settings of that previously captured footage it has 23.98fps instead o the 59.94fps of the footage I captured today. The only different thing is that now I’m working with FCP 5.0.4 under MacOs 10.4.6.
Going to try the FRC plug in in final cut from the Panasonic Web and let you know what goes on.
    Thanks!

[BerGo] “Using Capture Now and Batch Capture with the same problem.”

Do not use capture now, FCP cannot figure out where to remove the cadence when it does not know where to stop ahead of time ( no TC either)

but not the same tape, somehow some way FCP is not seeing the 24p frames to remove the pulldown.
the FRC will work with the DVCPROHD material captured via HDSI using the Kona cards.
If the FRC plug in does not work there was something else going wrong.

if you updated the OS and FCP did you reinstall the current Kona Drivers?

If you re using the kona easy setups (bringing in footage over SDI) then make sure you are using the 720p 23.98 Varicam easy setup. If you are using firewire to input use FCPs DVCPRO HD 720p24 easy setup. It sounds like you picked the 59.94 easy setup.
