LaCie Biggest S2S Testing – Quick update
A while back I mentioned that I received a LaCie Biggest S2S SATA array for some testing here and just wanted to give a quick update.
It’s been going over a month now cutting 8bit uncompressed SD and DV/DVCAM projects in our second suite with zero issues / hiccups so far. Speeds are great and realtime fucntionality in both 8bit SD and DV/DVCAM is really good.
Speed tests show from 127-144MB/s Write and 124-138MB/s Read.
We’re just running it with the stock SATA card that LaCie includes with the unit and in RAID 0 + 1. So we have four drives striped together and 1 drive on reserve. This is how it was set up on arrival so we just decied to go ahead and run it that way.
So for our early trials, this unit is running exactly as it should.

Sure it’ll work just fine. I have not tested to see how much RT you get with DVCPro HD, but it’s humming right along with 8bit uncomopressed material and it’s actually a pretty quiet unit.
