HD/SD Luma/Chroma variation in AE
We have noticed that is you take the same source (it can be either a HD or SD clip) and change the Kona video output from SD to HD in After Effects (we have been switching between 10bit 625i and 1080i in our case) we notice the HD output has about a 10-20% Luma and Chroma shift. We do the same switch of video output in Final Cut and there is no perceptual difference. We have confirmed this on 2 suites, which suggests it is either an incorrect setup at our end or a Kona2 fault.
Further to AE on our computer monitors there is no image change and this is confirmed when viewing the Synthetic Aperture scopes inside AE. We wish we had a scope that could take an output from the monitor to confirm the amount of change, but it is significant.
Can anyone else confirm this symptom or know of the solution to fix this?
The problem is knowing which output from AE is correct SD or HD? and if it is SD which is our suspsicision it means you basically can’t do any grading in HD.
Thanks for your help.
G.
