January 5, 2006 at 8:48 amwell, if you want hardware acceleration for any or all of the compressed HD codecs, only the AJA product will do that. their support is easily the best around too…3 years unlimited phone support. cant ever go wrong with AJA.

January 5, 2006 at 4:51 pmThese thread always turn into stupid pissing matches.
It is best to go to each products web stie, compare the features from the PDF brochures and then ask specific questions in this forum about AJA and go to the decklink forum and ask specific questions about that product to, this will help avoid long threads that eventually turn into insults.
All I will say is that I know from experience that the AJA products work very well with Final Cut Pro. The features work as advertized.
The support is outstanding, probably one of the best I have received for any product.
You can feel safe for three years with the AJA warranty.
It is very difficult to ask for a comparrison for competing products as most people in this forum may not own both. I encourage others who reply to this thread to answer AJA specific questions so that we do not have to get into the messiness of product comparrisions.
Bob Zelin is a reseller and so he has probably installed both systems, so his advice would be worthwhile and good.

January 6, 2006 at 12:14 amBob Zelin is NOT a reseller. I am an installer, I don’t sell anything.
No matter what, have someone qualified to build and install your system, because if you buy either Blackmagic, AJA, or anything else, this stuff does not just plug in and start working. If that is what you want (and don’t want technical help) – go firewire, and forget doing quality work.Bob Zelin

January 6, 2006 at 1:10 amI posted to seek advice from those who use or have used the lhe product line. Being that both companies ofer similar product lines I want to know from what i hope to be like pros which has worked for them. I understand that its not plug and play, as i have configured systems before (SD). However, this is my first time configuring an HD system. If I wanted to use firewire I would and not waste anybodys time especially mines. I appreciate the advice and I will probaly purchase 3 LHe cards.

January 6, 2006 at 2:09 amBecause there have been great deliverly delays in the Multibridge product, many people, including myself, have not seen a HD Multibridge Extreme that works. This does not mean that Blackmagic products are not excellent. However, you are on an AJA forum, and most of these users have experience with AJA products. I can assure you that the AJA Kona 2, AJA Kona LH and AJA Kona LHe DO WORK without question, without bugs, and without aggrivation, as long as you have the correct drive array to handle the speeds that you want to capture. You will almost never see a post on these forums that say “AJA SUCKS”. AJA products work as advertised.

January 6, 2006 at 3:12 amBob,
I am sorry for incorrectly referring to you as a reseller. It seems from your posts that you have experience with many product lines (that’s where I was coming from).
Legend.
Nobody minds offering advice about the AJA products but I was just saying that more often than not these types of threads turn into bashing. What I said about AJA earlier goes. I have seen the Decklink HD and Mulitbridge work and I know many people who are very happy with their products, but I also know a reseller who says that when there is a problem, things do not happen as quickly as they would with AJA. That is not to say that they do not both make good products.
