I already have an IO and looking to add an Ingest station to our studio, I think I’m leaning to the KONA LH since there is some Hardware acceleration with it for RT Extreme. We are currently recording in IMX through SDI and outputing to Betacam Sp through a SDI-Component AJA converter. Our timeline is IMX also. Anyone have any thoughts or suggestions.

Since you need both analog and digital I would go with the kona LH, unless you need upconversion, than go with the Kona 2. Is you need SD only, there’s always the kona LS.

We are SD only, I’ve thought about the LS but I like that there is some Hardware excelleration with the LH, then again I don’t even know if it is relevant since the AJA doesn’t support IMX.

The acceleration they speak of has to do with scaling of DVCPro HD footage, and the untangling of the GOPs with HDV footage. The Kona boards take this load off of the processor leaving the computer for more rt. It won’t do anything for your SD stuff.

As far as aja not supporting IMX, I have no idea. I have never worked with that format.
