Firewire player control?
Posted by Tim Langston on October 28, 2005 at 8:33 pmHere’s a question, using the Kona2, can I control my DVCam deck by firewire and digitize the footage from the S-Video or Composite out?
Just want to know.
Thanks,

October 28, 2005 at 9:03 pmYou can control your DV deck via firewire with the Kona 2 (you just change your control setting to firewire). However, if you want to capture off of S Video or Composite you will have to convert the analog video to SDI to go into the Kona.

October 28, 2005 at 9:50 pmKona is SDI only. If your deck doesnt have an SDI board, you would need an IO if you want to load at anything other than DV compression. Otherwise, you should just capture over firewire.

October 28, 2005 at 9:52 pmother than an IO, you can use any deck that has Analog to Digital conversion (like a Digibeta Deck).

Or you can do what I did, picked up an AJA Io LA for those times when I need to use analog inputs, such as S-Video from my DSR-11.
