I have been reading the posts on this forum regarding Kona 2 compatibility with OS 10.4.2 and Final Cut 5 and the consensus seems to be that doing a full install of Tiger is less likely to cause issues than simply doing an upgrade. Out of curiosity we purchased a new Dual 2.7 that has come with Tiger pre-installed and I’m curious if doing a Firewire transfer of my Apps and User settings during the new computer registration process would cause similar problems to an upgrade. I will still be doing a clean install of Final Cut studio, I’m really just trying to avoid having to re-install After Effects because of the amount of time it will take for all the plug-ins. Any info is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Mike

Do a full reinstall of AE. It takes 10 minutes or less to install AE – I realize the plug ins can take forever, but if you dont’ do a clean install, you are just begging for trouble.

The idea of being nervous about having FCP and AJA hardware being stable on Tiger is rediculous. Every day, there are NEW systems being installed, where only Tiger is available. If there were major issues, no dealer would be installing new systems.

The major issues we have seen have to do with high-end storage and SANs.

Do a clean install of all apps and plug-ins for the most stable and best performance on a Tiger based system. I completely wiped my drives clean on both systems and started over when I moved to Tiger / FCP 5.0.
