Video Level drop
I don’t know if anyone has experienced this or even if it is a Kona2 problem – I don’t think it is – but I was hoping someone might know of a solution.
My main problem is that stills saved from Final Cut have dropped gamma levels. My main test for this has been to use Final Cut’s bars – though I have also used other footage and had the same problem. I export the frame as a file then open the file back up in Final Cut.
Specifics: It doesn’t matter which type of file I use – Targa, TIFF, PICT. If I save the bars as a movie, open it up in Quicktime and save it, the levels are only slightly dropped. The same movie, exporting from After Effects, slightly more of a level drop than Quicktime.
We are also seeing a level drop when going from our Mac workstations (both identical setups) to the Avid Symphony. It doesn’t seem to matter what codec is used.We recently upgraded to a 2.5 GHz G5 with the Kona2 card. Running OS version 10.3.8. Final Cut Pro version 4.5. Quicktime 6.5.
Thanks in advance for your help.
