FCP5 using dvcprohd 59.94 ez setup. Capture using the kona card sdi. The video looks fine coming in but after capture, the clips are black. The files are on the hard drive. If i try to reconnect, i get an error message “the files do not have the proper content to reconnect”. If i import the files from the hard drive, they look fine. Any thoughts?

Are the clips black in FCP and in QuickTime player?

no the clips are black in fcp but if i open them from the finder with qt they are fine. ANd if i import the clips into the bin they are fine. I have 4.5 and 10.3.9 on a ext drive and if i reboot from there it captures correctly so it seems to be a fcp5/tiger issue.

Dan, I just installed FCP 5 / Tiger in our second edit suite so I’ll bring the 1200A over there today and see how the DVCPro HD captures go there. But I don’t have a Kona 2 in the second suite, so I’ll be capturing via Firewire.

Just curious, why capture via SDI? Captures via SDI and Firewire are identical in what we’ve seen here.

Captured a dozen clips via Firewire and all was well with FCP 5 and DVCPro HD. Had video playback normally in the Viewer and Canvas. Again, don’t have a Kona 2 in there, but it was a normal capture and simple edit for the test.
