    Hello Everyone.

We are in the process of merging our current MetaSan fibre network to a 10Gb.
Our current system is briefly like this.
    4 mac-pros 5.1 for edit (FCP/Premiere/Resolve)
2 mac-pros (ashtrays) for finishing (Resolve and AFX)
1 Xserve 3.1 as metadata controller
1 Xserve 2.1 as compresor server
1 Xserve 2.1 as FTP server
    4 rorke data Galaxy HDX2
    1 Active Storage raid
    2 Qlogic Sanbox 5600
2 Dell power connect Gb switch
All running under a 4Gb fibre network, overall the network is very stable and reliable.
But now that we are using 2K and 4k footage bandwidth is not enough, and have to hook external thunderbolt drive into the system to have more speed.

In order to update my network, I see 2 scenarios
    a) Update fibrecards and switches to 8 or 16gb fibre cards & wiring + continue paying annually subscription to metasan. (beside it will be discontinued by next year as I hear)
    $$$$

    b) Create a new 10gb network from scratch.
    $$$

Overall question to the experts are:
How reliable is 10Gb networking? and whats the pros and cont to move from fiber
Is the sharing protocol is the same as regular ethernet network? or still need software to control the traffic as Metasan do.

I far as research I made at this time.
I still have my metadata server (Xserve 3.1) hooked to all Fibre storage and share trough the 10Gb net.
The add new 10Gb cards to the servers and edit systems
    Hooked to a switch
    Rewire for 10Gb ethernet
And spend hours or days troubleshooting in order to make it work properly

I read about the Netgear XS712T
    And sonnet 10gb ethernet cards.
Do someone has any reco on this.

Thanks for taking the time to reed this post
and please pardon my broken english,

    JC
