  How to manage an incremental backup?

  Hello everyone,
  I hope you can help me with this.

  I have a 40 Tb video library that is updated daily.
  I want to have a full incremental backup on LTO but I am struggling to find a working solution.
  There is no software controlling the archive (it’s an old XSAN, but Final Cut Server is not running on it anymore, so it is just a few thousands of video files).

  The library is divided in folders that are updated daily, depending on the video files which are transferred to the storage unit.
  I thought about doing a backup by date, starting from the oldest files to the most recent, but I would I manage the files inside the folders? If a new file is added to a folder that has already been backed up, how would I manage to spot it and add it.

  I know this is not an ideal management of video files but unfortunately I can’t change that.

  I hope I made myself clear enough, I welcome your input on the matter!

  If you’re on MAC take a look at Archiware. If on Windows look at Acronis.
