  CF card not reading

  Advice anyone…I have a Sandisk Extreme 32GB CF card that won’t read on 2 different MacBook Pro computers (Leopard and Lion), or in the xf305 Canon used to record the media currently on the card. I am using an ImageMate all-in-one reader, but have tried 2 other readers as well.

  The card has been used successfully 5 times to record and transfer data. Before it became unreadable on the 6th usage, it mounted successfully but I dismounted it to switch to another computer (sadly before transferring the data) and now it won’t mount anymore.

  I sent it to a recovery company and they diagnosed the “translator on the card” is gone bad. Recovery charge $1,400.

  Anyone out there have a cheaper solution?
