Does anyone know the hard drives SSD OWC (Other World Computing) ?
I’m looking for exchanging my RAID 5 HDD system to a solid state 4 Mini 4TB (4 x 1TB) Four-Bay Thunderbolt 2 Array.
If anyone has references, please write them here.

I’m looking if it’s a good option to buy the OWC Enclosure and then 4x1TB SSD Crucial to put in the bays.

Bob,
I´m also aiming to upgrade my current RAID system (that I got many years ago with your help).

And I´m also looking for a OWC solution: OWC ThunderBay 4 mini RAID 5 Edition

I´ve read many great reviews, but they were all performed on mac systems.
Do you know by any chance if this is going to perform as well on a windows pc ?
Is there any software that you would recommend for it (the equivalent of SoftRAID for windows) ?

Or maybe some other similar enclosure that you would recommend? (4 bays, thunderblot 2/3, SSD capable)

Any help will be much appreciated.

FYI-

I’m using two OWC Thunderbay 4’s on windows and they work perfectly. Instead of softraid, I’m using Windows Storage Spaces in conjunction with Disk Management to manage two raid10’s.

Just 2 questions:
– Can you configure a RAID 5 using Storage Spaces & Disk Management ?
– Did you run any speed test on the drives? Could you please share your results?

1. yes. I believe Raid 5 would only require Storage Spaces. I had to use Disk Management in order to create Raid10.

2. Benchmark tests using crystaldiskmark5: write/read 400MB/s.

My TB2 raids are connected to my PC through an Akitio T3T adapter since I have TB3 on my Gigabyte motherboard.

there’s also other programs available for managing pc raids such as: StableBit DrivePool, FlexRAID, Unraid.
