Finding a rack for my rack-mounted hard drives
Hello Creative Cow,
I’ve recently assembled six LaCie 48TB Rack-mounted hard drives. The boxes contained all the materials needed to mount the drives inside of a rack of some kind, but it doesn’t provide any recommendations beyond that point (and obviously doesn’t include a rack.)
My research so far today has made me more hesitant to order something, as it doesn’t seem like a subject that has a lot of attention. Before proceeding I would love to hear from somebody who has done this before!
Here is a link where you can find the exact specifications of the hard drive arrays that I’m working with:
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1067853-REG/lacie_9000476u_48tb_8big_thunderbolt_2.htmlThe dimensions of the unit are:
Dimensions (WxHxD) 18.9 x 30.4 x 1.7″ / 477 x 772 x 44 mm
It seems like my options are to buy very simple rails, which seem to come in pairs, and that would give me the most flexibility as far as dimensions are concerned.
I would love to have some kind of cabinet that has wheels on it, however, and then I am faced with the situation of finding a setup that fits the correct dimensions. One unit that I’m looking at – and it would be nice to find something similar – is:
