    Hello,
I have looked a fair amount and haven’t found anything answering my specific question. I purchased a new GSpeed Q (12TB) (Have had previous versions which I set up through the web GUI by creating an array as Raid5 and had a resulting disk size of 9TB), and was trying to set the new one up as a RAID5 also. I connected it via USB according to their instructions, and according to their documentation, I am supposed to use the Raid configurator (separate DMG by Gtech), and then use disk utility to initialize/format. But when I do, the storage amount remains 12TB as opposed to the 9TB that i was expecting (losing 25% of storage for redundancy).. When I try to look at it in the web gui, It does not recognize it as a drive and it says there is no device to “create array” from.

Can anyone tell me if running the configurator, then formatting as OSX journaled in the disk utility will result in a 9TB drive showing up as 9TB? or will it show up as mine has as 12TB?
Just trying not to end up with a JBOD or Raid0 instead of my desired Raid 5

    Ultimately I want a 12TB drive set up as a RAID 5.

    Thank you for any thoughts.
