  • Layers disappearing/going out of view when making it a 3D layer

Posted by Ellie Jones on November 16, 2013 at 2:51 pm

I am doing a kinetic typography style animation, with a lot of camera movement, so a lot of 3d layers. But now every time I make a text layer 3D, it disappears out of view from where I have positioned it into somewhere in 3D space, and I have to zoom out, scale it, change the position ect to get it back to where it was. Any reasons as to why this is happening? Any help much appreciated!

If you create a 3D camera and move it, the text won’t be in front of the camera when you enable 3D, it’s position will be at 0,0,0. Try holding down shift and parenting the text to the camera, that will jump the layer to where the camera is, then you should be able to quickly adjust it into position.
