Facilis and FCSvr
Hello,
We’re in the process of configuring FCSvr and employing it as a part of our workflow. That seems to be going smoothly after hours and hours of reading.
Can anyone verify or advise with regards to how I’ve got the Facilis configured?
The facilis is configured with three multi-user write volumes (MUW):
Media (which is capture scratch)
Project (FCS project files and other resources)
Proxies (clip and element proxies – no edit proxies)We have four Mac clients on fiber connected to volumes Project and Media.
FCSvr connected via ethernet to volumes Media, Project and Proxies
One mac client running BRU PE connected via ethernet to volumes Media, Project and Proxies.I know there are multiple ways to configure – does the configuration above make good sense?
I’ve considered getting a fiber card for the FCSvr and configuring this way:
Media Volume for FCSvr
Capture scratch/project volume for each edit suite (4)
FCSvr scans capture scratch/project volumes and copies media to the Media Volume. This would change all the volumes back to Single User Write and prevent editors from changing anything in the Media Volume and forcing use of FCSvr.
I think we were getting better stability/performance when using the Single User Write mode because we never thought about the Facilis – it just worked. Since swapping to MUW, there seems to be some weirdness here and there – files won’t save, problems exporting, performance dips, etc.
Any advice or criticism regarding this configuration would be welcomed.
Cheers.
